Job Title : | Electrical / Rigging Technician

Reports To : | Assembly Manager

Summary :

The Electrical / Rigging Technician is responsible for installing, wiring, and testing electrical systems, controls, and accessories on pontoon boats. This role ensures that all electrical and rigging work meets company standards for safety, performance, and quality. The position requires the ability to read and follow schematics, blueprints, and work instructions, while maintaining proper use of tools and test equipment. Collaboration with production and quality teams is essential to resolve issues, maintain throughput, and support the timely completion of boats.

Responsibilities :

  • Install and connect electrical harnesses, control panels, gauges, switches, and lighting systems according to specifications.
  • Perform functional testing of electrical systems and rigging to verify proper installation and operation.
  • Diagnose and repair wiring or rigging issues during production or final inspection.
  • Read and follow schematics, blueprints, and work instructions to ensure accurate installation.
  • Install, adjust, and align mechanical rigging systems.
  • Maintain proper use of hand tools, power tools, crimpers, testers, and shop equipment.
  • Provide troubleshooting support on electrical and rigging issues to minimize downtime.
  • Collaborate with production and quality teams to resolve issues efficiently.
  • Follow all safety protocols, procedures, and environmental regulations.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Promote a strong safety culture by adhering to PPE requirements and safe practices.
  • Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) :

  • Electrical System Quality Rate : Percentage of electrical and rigging systems passing inspection on first attempt without rework.
  • Installation Efficiency : Average time to complete electrical and rigging installations versus standard times.
  • Safety Compliance : Adherence to all safety protocols with zero recordable incidents.

    Competencies :

  • Strong knowledge of DC electrical systems, wiring practices, and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Ability to install, adjust, and align rigging systems with precision.
  • Skilled in identifying and resolving electrical / rigging issues in a production environment.
  • Proficiency with hand tools, crimpers, testers, and other shop equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Effective communicator with the ability to work cross-functionally with production and quality teams.
  • Capable of working in a fast-paced, team-oriented manufacturing environment.
  • Required education and experience :

  • 3-5 years in a standard manufacturing environment or similar role.
  • Preferred education and experience :

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
  • Previous experience in boat manufacturing, marine service, or mechanical / electrical inspection preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of marine systems, engines, and electrical components a plus.
  • Supervisory Responsibilities :

  • There are no supervisory responsibilities for this position.
  • Physical Demands :

  • Ability to safely climb in and out of boats.
  • Able to lift, push, pull up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time during working hours.
  • Work environment :

  • Standard manufacturing environment.
  • Work is performed inside or outside year-round. There is exposure to dirt, dust, noise, equipment, vibrations, and seasonal weather conditions.
  • All necessary PPE will be provided.
  • Travel Requirements :

  • There is no travel required for this role.
