Deputy Director of Financial and Business Services
Under the general direction of the Director of Financial and Business Services, the Deputy Director supports the strategic and operational financial management of Harris County Resources for Children and Adults. This executive-level position assists in planning, organizing, and directing a wide range of financial functions including budgeting, grants, accounting, auditing, procurement, reporting, and internal controls. The Deputy Director of Financial and Business Services acts as a key advisor to the Director and serves as acting Director in their absence, ensuring effective financial stewardship and compliance with applicable laws, policies, and regulations.

Education and Experience : Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, Public Administration, Public Policy, Business Administration, or a related field. Minimum five (5) years' management experience in accounting, Finance, Public Administration, Public Policy, Business Administration, or a related field. Must have four (4) years in a supervisory or leadership role in financial management. Training and experience using a personal computer with a variety of software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
OR Associate's degree in a directly related field. Minimum seven (7) years' experience in Accounting, Finance, Public Administration, Public Policy, Business Administration, or a related field. Must have six (6) years of supervisory or leadership experience in financial management. Training and experience using a personal computer with a variety of software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Licensure : Reliable transportation with a valid driver's license (Texas) and auto liability insurance.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities : Strong understanding of public sector accounting, budgeting, procurement, and financial reporting. Ability to analyze complex financial data and develop actionable insights. Demonstrated experience in program and policy development, preferably in a public or nonprofit setting. Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills; able to effectively lead diverse teams and collaborate across departments. Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities. High level of emotional intelligence and the ability to demonstrate empathy while maintaining accountability. Ability to demonstrate empathetic leadership by fostering a supportive, inclusive team environment that promotes high morale, trust, and psychological safety while empowering staff through recognition, communication, and professional development. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including report writing and presentation skills. Ability to exercise sound judgment, tact, and diplomacy in sensitive situations. Proficient in the use of financial software systems and Microsoft Office Suite. Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Position Type, and Typical Hours of Work : Full-time | Regular Monday Friday 8 : 00 a.m. 5 : 00 p.m.
Salary : Commensurate with experience. Based on 26 Pay Periods Plus, Mileage Reimbursement
