Position Overview
We are seeking skilled Structural Welders to support the fabrication of steel structures and components for a variety of projects. This position is responsible for interpreting technical drawings, preparing materials, and performing welds that meet strict quality and safety standards. Welders at this level play an essential role in ensuring the strength, reliability, and durability of assemblies, with opportunities to advance their expertise as they gain experience.
Key Responsibilities
Perform welding operations on structural and miscellaneous metal parts using FCAW, GMAW, SMAW, and related processes.
Read and interpret blueprints, job orders, and cut lists to ensure accuracy in fabrication.
Set up, adjust, and operate welding equipment safely and effectively.
Measure and verify components for compliance with project specifications and code requirements.
Inspect finished welds and document quality control results.
Operate material handling equipment such as forklifts and overhead cranes when needed.
Maintain welding tools, troubleshoot issues, and ensure equipment remains in good condition.
Follow all shop safety guidelines, participate in toolbox talks, and contribute to a clean and organized work area.
Support team members, provide mentorship when qualified, and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.
Qualifications
3G welding certification required; 6G certification and SMAW proficiency strongly preferred.
3–5+ years of welding and metal fabrication experience; advanced candidates should have 5+ years with structural fitting and heavy structural welding.
Proficient in multiple processes including FCAW, GMAW (all transfer modes), and SMAW.
Skilled in reading and interpreting blueprints, layouts, and weld symbols with a strong understanding of fabrication standards.
Solid math skills including geometry and trigonometry for layout and fitting tasks.
Ability to operate forklifts, overhead cranes, and other material-handling equipment safely.
Demonstrated experience producing welds that meet code requirements with attention to detail and quality.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot and maintain welding equipment.
Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to mentor less experienced welders and support team development.
Capable of leading small groups, managing work assignments, and contributing to continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives.
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs regularly.
Work in confined spaces, elevated areas, and various weather conditions.
Perform squatting, kneeling, balancing, and climbing as required by tasks.
Comfortable working in noisy, dusty, or otherwise demanding shop or field environments.
Must maintain knowledge of trade tools and materials and follow all safety policies.
Empowered to stop work if unsafe conditions are identified and report concerns immediately.
