Job Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated Thermal Performance Engineer to join our team and ensure vehicle thermal systems meet all functional performance targets throughout the product development lifecycle. This role is vital in shaping vehicle design by delivering optimized cooling performance, supporting validation activities, and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure thermal and cooling system performance aligns with vehicle functional objectives, providing strategic recommendations to the Product Team.
  • Lead and participate in system-level design reviews, including simulation and physical testing of thermal systems.
  • Conduct regular cooling system status assessments with program chiefs to ensure transparency and alignment with development goals.
  • Collaborate with lab engineers to develop and manage detailed test plans, including annual hot weather test trips.
  • Drive issue resolution through thermal performance issue tracking, communication, and reporting to stakeholders.
  • Plan and monitor validation activities, ensuring timely completion of DVP&R requirements.
  • Support aero / thermal attribute development throughout the program lifecycle, ensuring integration with vehicle performance goals.
  • Engage with the exterior styling studio to provide engineering input on thermal feasibility and design impact.
  • Manage vehicle thermal system instrumentation and testing.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot BEV & ICE vehicle thermal systems.
  • Develop energy consumption solutions for BEV vehicles.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Software, or Systems Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
  • At least 1 year of experience in the automotive industry.
  • Strong communication skills, capable of presenting technical info to non-technical audiences.
  • Excellent project coordination and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Background in Engineering Product Development and Automotive Systems.
  • Experience with engineering requirements and industry standards.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and best practices.
  • Familiarity with software development processes.
  • Additional Information

    The pay range is $22.19 / hour - $34.67 / hour. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, and retirement. Applications are accepted ongoing.
