Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

A full-semester contract position is available for a Special Education Teacher in a K-12 school located near Chicago South, Joliet, IL. This role focuses on providing individualized support in self-contained classrooms, each with approximately 10 students, supported by an assigned paraprofessional. The work schedule is from 6 : 45 AM to 2 : 15 PM, with a start date as soon as possible and assignment running through the end of the school year.

Responsibilities include :

  • Developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student's unique learning needs.
  • Collaborating closely with paraprofessionals to manage classroom activities and ensure student engagement and progress.
  • Monitoring student development and providing consistent feedback to parents and school administrators.
  • Adapting teaching methods and materials to meet the diverse learning styles of students within the self-contained setting.
  • Maintaining accurate records of student performance and behavior.
  • Participating in team meetings and professional development sessions as required.

Desired qualifications and experience :

  • Valid state certification in Special Education.
  • Experience teaching students in a K-12 setting, particularly within self-contained classrooms.
  • Strong munication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with paraprofessionals and other school staff.
  • Patience, empathy, and dedication to fostering a supportive learning environment.
