InterVarsity Press is hiring a

Remote Marketing Manager I or II

To advance the purpose of InterVarsity Press, this position manages and supports the effective coordination, promotion, advertising, and marketing of IVP books.

Status : Full-time

Location : Lisle, IL (in-person preferred, potential hybrid / remote work agreement by arrangement, IVP cannot currently employ remotely in California, Missouri, or outside the United States)

Salary : $58,000-68,000 annually, depending upon level

Major Responsibilities

  • Be a maturing disciple of Jesus Christ : growing in love for God, God's Word, God's people of every ethnicity and culture, and God's purposes in the world.

Provide marketing strategies for titles by :

  • Stewarding and optimizing Targeted, paid digital and social media advertising efforts across Google Ads, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn for IVP's Trade and Academic imprints
  • Tracking, analyzing, and executing paid digital and social media advertising efforts to evaluate overall effectiveness of plans
  • Crafting data-driven, strategically sound, fully integrated marketing plans for 30-35 titles per year across both Trade and Academic imprints.
  • Developing strong consumer insights that drive innovative marketing connections and allow for creative engagement of advertising messages across multiple channels during the pre-order and launch campaign periods
  • Monitoring ongoing sales data to adjust plans as needed to ensure frontlist titles backlist well
  • Leading cross-functional team strategy discussions to build marketing plans that are collaborative and leverage the full suite of IVP resources for titles
  • Engaging all relevant stakeholders in planning discussions : editors, sales, publicity, agents, authors, digital sales, lead generation, and design teams
  • Establishing collaborative relationships with authors, resourcing them well to activate their networks and affinity groups to elevate the overall awareness of titles and further drive sales
  • Securing strong partnerships with outside advertising vendors to maintain a comprehensive database of opportunities and build customized, targeted plans for titles
  • Managing budgets and tracking analytics to ensure maximum efficiency and effectiveness of all marketing efforts
  • Writing creative briefs, customizing marketing book description copy, and drafting headlines for each title
  • Maintaining awareness of event marketing opportunities, pitching authors as speakers, and planning for and attending key conferences throughout the year, such as the Christian Community Development Association, Jude 3, The Apprentice Gathering, and The Gospel Coalition.
  • Expanding marketing opportunities that support authors of color and organizations seeking to minister to them, amplifying their voices thoughtfully and authentically
  • Maintain Professional Growth and Development by :

  • Staying connected with industry trends and innovations in book publishing, email marketing, customer engagement, and strategies for reaching new markets
  • Attending training events and conferences to remain current in these areas
  • Participating in industry-wide events to increase cultural competency within Christian publishing
  • Any other duties as required

    Qualifications

  • Affirmation of InterVarsity’s Statement of Faith
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Spanish fluency preferred but not required
  • Credentialed with at least 2 years of experience managing paid social media advertising campaigns
  • Four to six years of digital marketing manager or agency experience, depending on level
  • Ability to maintain a high level of knowledge regarding IVP products, services, policies, and procedures
  • Prudence with confidential information
  • Proven ability to multi-task and manage multiple stakeholders
  • Exceptional project management skills
  • Commitment to working in a diverse team environment
  • Flexibility to travel 10-15% for conferences and sales appointments, including biblical / religious studies conferences in late November
  • Flexibility to attend Urbana Student Missions Conference every six years, Dec. 26-Jan.1, and National Staff Conference every three years, Jan. 3-8
