Medical Assistant – On the Job Training

Cornerstone Dermatology + Surgery Group, PC in Lee's Summit, MO is hiring! This entry-level Medical Assistant role is ideal for candidates seeking real-world experience in a busy dermatology practice, with all skills and procedures learned on the job. This position offers hands-on training and mentorship from dermatology providers, supporting both direct patient care and daily office operations.

Cornerstone Dermatology + Surgery Group, PC is a growing, privately owned dermatology practice. We provide compassionate, expert medical and surgical dermatology care in a comfortable office setting. Responsibilities

  • Greet patients and manage check-in, intake, and checkout processes.
  • Assist dermatologists and mid-level providers during consultations, minor procedures, and surgeries, learning to set up rooms, position and drape patients, and supply instruments.
  • Measure and record vital signs, medical histories, and pertinent patient data.
  • Document encounters and updates in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
  • Prepare and label specimen samples for laboratory testing as directed.
  • Communicate instructions and facilitate patient education about treatments, follow-ups, and medications.

Training Provided

  • Direct, structured support from dermatologists, advanced practice providers, and experienced clinical staff.
  • Education in medical terminology, anatomy, skin conditions, documentation, and dermatologic procedures.
  • Development of soft skills, including patient communication, teamwork, and workflow management.
  • Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; college coursework or degree preferred.
  • No prior healthcare experience needed; a strong desire to learn and serve in a patient-facing role is essential.
  • Reliable, eager to work, able to multitask, and committed to supporting a respectful and efficient clinic environment.
