Automation Engineer 5

Overview

CDM Smith is hiring Automation and Instrumentation & Controls Engineers to support public, private, and federal clients locally and around the world on SCADA automation projects.

As an Automation Engineer, you will work on designing and implementing SCADA systems, controls and instrumentation for process industries, with a focus on delivering quality work on time and on budget.

Responsibilities

• With general direction, create basic to highly complex instrumentation, controls and related systems designs using 3D and 4D drafting programs. Develop basic technical memoranda related to design issues and prepare preliminary design reports under limited supervision. Coordinate design reconciliations with clients.
• Review basic to highly complex component-level shop drawings. Provide responses to RFIs under supervision. Perform field acceptance testing (FATs) and field inspections.
• With general direction, create basic to highly complex HMI designs, PLCs, reports, etc. Prepare level of effort estimates (LOEs).
• Lead testing and startup teams for basic to moderately complex instrumentation, controls and related systems independently with minimal supervision. Ensure testing and startup documentation and quality assurance filing are completed.
• Independently develop basic to highly complex operations & maintenance manuals for designed instrumentation, controls and related systems.
• Independently develop training for end users.
• Lead teams of junior staff, provide direction and mentoring, and review junior staff work as necessary.
• Under general supervision, prepare proposal sections and presentations.
• Perform other duties as required.

Pay Range : Minimum $90,605 – Maximum $158,579

Additional Compensation : Bonuses discretionary and may not apply.
