Job Summary : The Apprentice Shop Service Technician will perform on-the-job training (OJT) while learning and developing as a technician.
The incumbent in this position is expected to model the following practices daily : 1) Demonstrate alignment with the company's mission and core business values; 2) Collaborate with key internal / external resources; 3) Participate in ongoing self-development.
Essential Functions :
- Gains knowledge of and assists with the maintenance and repair of heavy equipment
- Assists with installation, repairs, maintenance, and replacement of mechanical and electrical components
- Examines and test equipment, components, and parts to ensure the proper functioning
- Adjusts, connects, or disconnects wiring, piping, tubing, and other parts
- Attends Technical and Soft Skill classes and successfully incorporates skills learned
- Maintains safety training and procedures
- Receives coaching, mentoring, and feedback from service leadership
- Requires regular and punctual employee attendance
- Works safely at all times and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards
- Performs other duties as assigned

Visual acuity, speech and hearing, hand and eye coordination, and manual dexterity necessary to operate equipmentRoutinely moves materials or equipment weighing up to 30 poundsMust be able to move objects, and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigueAscend / descend with gradual or continuous progress by oneself, using both hands and feet and climbing up and down laddersBe able to safely maneuver and work around equipmentRoutinely reacts to visual, auditory, and other signals, including alarms and instructions, and is required to visually inspect workWork Environment :
Regularly works indoors and outdoors around moving mechanical parts and may be exposed to weather extremes when working outside in conditions that include inclement weather, heat, cold, and humidityUses of hand and power tools to complete tasksNoise level may be loud at times and may be exposed to whole-body vibrationExposure to small quantities of chemicals, steam, high-pressure water, and high-speed rotating equipmentMay spend time in stationary, confined, and high places
