Under the direction of the Community Development Director, provides expert leadership for the Economic Development Department, including business retention, expansion, recruitment, and redevelopment. The successful candidate will :

JOB SUMMARY
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Direct supervision of Economic Development staff. Responsible for selection, training, development, and performance management of personnel.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in economic development, urban planning, marketing, business administration, public administration, or related field. Minimum five (5) years' experience working as a project manager, planner, consultant to community groups by developing programs, providing customer service and advocating for community needs. Minimum two (2) years of formal staff supervisory experience.
An equivalent combination of formal education and related work experience produces the knowledge, skill and ability required to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of this position.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must possess a valid driver's license and a good driving record.
American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certification preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and / or boards of directors.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
