Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (State)

General Description : Apply through CAPPS. The position supports Mason Mountain WMA facilities maintenance, groundskeeping, and public use programs. Responsibilities include habitat management support, infrastructure maintenance, data collection for wildlife projects, and providing information to hunters and the public. Must comply with agency rules and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications :

  • Education : Graduation from High School or GED.
  • Experience : FWT IA – No experience required; FWT IB – Two years; FWT II – Four years; FWT III – Five years of experience as a TPWD Fish and Wildlife Technician II with ability to perform advanced duties.
  • Licensure : Valid state driver's license or ability to obtain; NWCG FFT II certification within one year.
  • Physical Requirements : Pass FFT II fitness standard within one year.
  • Substitutions : Advanced degree may substitute for up to two years of experience for FWT IB / II.
  • Preferred Qualifications : Wildlife management experience, carpentry or maintenance skills, and ability to work with the public.

Working Conditions : 8 : 00 a.m.–5 : 00 p.m., some holidays / weekends, outdoors, travel up to 20%, may operate state vehicle. Equal Opportunity Employer. Mission : To manage and conserve resources and provide outdoor recreation opportunities.

Aviculture Internship with Endangered Grouse Breeding Program

Texas A&M Natural Resources Institute (State) / Sutton Center. Internship involves breeding and reintroduction of Attwater's prairie-chicken. Tasks include managing captive flock, incubating eggs, feeding, cage sanitation, recordkeeping, and assisting aviculturists. Requires two years of college or equivalent experience; valid driver's license; willingness to work weekends / holidays; three- to six-month commitment (ideally March / April to August).

Stipend : $7.25 / hour plus overtime. On-site housing may be available. Applicants should submit cover letter, resume, three references, and availability.

South Dakota State University – Bat Acoustic Data Analyst (Seasonal)

Cheeseman Lab and SD Army National Guard; Seasonal position late Oct 2025–early Jan 2026; 40 hours / week up to 360 hours; $17 / hour. Responsibilities include processing acoustic bat data, deploying detectors, habitat metrics collection, data entry, equipment management, and project reporting. Preferred : BA / BS in biology / ecology / wildlife management; bat survey experience; NABat familiarity; Indiana bat / Northern Long-eared Bat protocols; valid driver's license; background check.
