Today, more than 30,000 companies across 100+ countries rely on FoodChain ID to ensure product integrity and food chain safety and transparency—one client, one product at a time.  Summary  Serve as the primary Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Food & Food Ingredient regulatory affairs.

Provide authoritative expertise, ensure the accuracy and currency of regulatory content, and act as a trusted liaison with clients, internal teams, and industry stakeholders.

Contribute to product development, manage consulting projects, and represent FoodChain ID as a recognized leader in the field.

This position reports to the Director of SME Operations.   Key Responsibilities  Regulatory Content Management  Ensure accuracy, completeness, and currency of all regulatory content in subject matter area  Identify and address gaps or weaknesses in coverage across all products and services  Maintain and oversee audit processes for timely updates  Client Engagement  Build and maintain strong client relationships within the subject matter area  Serve as key account manager for 1–2 top clients  Partner with Business Development to identify and pursue growth opportunities  Respond to client inquiries promptly and accurately, coordinating with internal and external experts as needed  Conduct interactive client training on tools and resources  Develop and mentor junior SMEs as backups  Product Development Support  Collaborate with research, data, systems, and consulting teams to improve products  Ensure consistency within and across product offerings  Track and communicate emerging industry concerns  Capture and share insights from conferences, client interactions, and industry events  Manage product updates via JIRA tickets and internal coordination  Regulatory Consulting Projects  Deliver projects on time and to client specifications  Source and coordinate external short-term resources when needed  Track and report project hours in compliance with internal procedures  Qualifications  Ph.D., J.D., or MA / MS preferred; industry experience considered  Previous hands-on regulatory experience in food and food ingredients, including labeling / artwork review, formulation compliance, and regulatory product assessments  Expertise in USDA regulations, food labeling, and claims  Experience across multiple regions, with USA, EU, and Canada as primary focus  Strong written, spoken, and interpersonal communication skills  Proven ability to build and maintain client relationships  Skilled in managing cross-functional global teams  Proficient in English; additional languages a plus  Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and time management capabilities  People management experience preferred  Additional Requirements  Up to 20% travel  Ability to work independently and as part of a team  Monthly reporting on status, issues, and personnel needs  EEO Statement FoodChain ID, Inc. provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state, or local laws.
