Quality Engineer

ITW Commercial Construction North America is seeking a Quality Assurance Engineer. The role supports all facets of quality engineering and supplier development, participates in the CBI (customer back innovation) process, and inspects, tests, and audits regular production as well as field-related product issues. The position involves investigating quality problems, identifying trends, conducting audits, and leading continuous improvement projects with manufacturing teams and the supply base. The position reports to the North America Quality Manager.

Responsibilities

• Fully involved in the CBI (customer back innovation) process, inspecting / testing and auditing regular production as well as products related to field application difficulties.
• Perform product quality audits to ensure conformance to part prints and specifications; conduct process quality audits to ensure conformance to standards, codes, and policies.
• Conduct trend analysis and process capability studies using existing in-process data and data from special fixtures or measuring systems.
• Supervise the calibration system; design and implement new fixtures and gauges for the inspection process.
• Participate in the customer complaints process, non-conforming processes, and corrective / preventive actions; collect data for root cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Oversee and conduct raw material and heat treatment testing / inspection.
• Generate and / or update Quality Plans and Inspection Instructions for new or existing processes or product families; generate related SOPs.
• Participate in quality-related customer meetings to build strong partnerships based on understanding customer needs and effective communication.
• Provide production support regarding product quality, gauging, and data interpretation.
• Hands-on activities (testing, inspection, audit) will represent 30 to 50% of the workload.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Work Environment and Physical Demands

The work environment includes typical office conditions with occasional exposure to fumes, airborne particles, climate variances, and moving mechanical equipment in manufacturing areas. PPE is required in manufacturing areas. Travel up to 10% may be required. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

Compensation and Benefits

Compensation : Pay Range : $80,000 - $100,000. Salary is dependent on experience.
