About the Role :

Ozell Services Inc. is seeking an experienced Construction Inspector to support the U.S. Coast Guard Yard in Baltimore, MD. The Construction Inspector will provide on-site inspection, coordination, and documentation support for multiple construction and maintenance projects across the Yard’s 113-acre campus. This role ensures all work complies with contract specifications, safety requirements, and federal quality standards.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Perform daily on-site inspections of construction projects to ensure compliance with contract documents and specifications.
  • Attend and document preconstruction, progress, and quality control meetings .
  • Review drawings, progress schedules, and submittals; provide recommendations on schedule impacts or design changes.
  • Prepare weekly progress reports summarizing project updates, contractor performance, and potential conflicts.
  • Verify contractor quantities and payment requests; review certified payrolls for Davis-Bacon Act compliance.
  • Conduct surveillance of survey operations , verify as-built drawings, and maintain field documentation.
  • Assist the Facilities Engineer and COR in resolving field issues, tracking RFIs, and maintaining contract documentation.
  • Monitor safety practices and immediately report or correct unsafe conditions.
  • Use AutoCAD to prepare or modify drawings in support of depot-level maintenance and construction projects.

Qualifications :

  • Minimum 15 years of relevant experience , including at least 5 years supporting federal government projects (as a federal or contractor employee).
  • High school diploma required; college-level education preferred.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD , Microsoft Office, and construction management documentation.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, cost estimating, and scheduling.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail in reporting and compliance tracking.
  • Must be able to pass a background and credit check .
  • U.S. citizenship required due to work on a federal installation.
  • Work Environment & Schedule :

  • Primary duty location : U.S. Coast Guard Yard , 2401 Hawkins Point Road, Baltimore, MD.
  • Standard 8-hour workday, Monday–Friday (flex schedule may be available).
  • No travel required outside the Yard.
