The Patagonia Regional Times is a non-profit newsroom serving three rural communities in southern Arizona. We produce a free monthly print edition 10 times a year, a weekly e-newsletter and breaking e-news, with an estimated readership of over 2000. Our annual budget is $175,000. Since our founding in 2009, our mission has been to be a reliable and engaging source of news for the communities of eastern Santa Cruz County – open to all views, focused on local issues, written and edited by local people, and providing a platform for community education and involvement.
The PRT has a unique model of operation of volunteer community journalists, an active board of directors, and three part time employees. Our staff executive has for years held the dual positions of Managing Editor and Executive Director. She is now ready to reduce her responsibilities and focus on the editorial side of the organization. The board of directors has decided to separate the positions to include a fourth staff member, with an organizational structure of two staff in collaborative leadership positions, both reporting to the BOD. We are calling the new position Director of Operations and Development rather than Executive Director.
General Responsibilities :
Financial Management and Fundraising : Develops resources sufficient to ensure the financial health of the organization.
Organizational Mission and Strategy : Works with the Managing Editor, staff, and Board to ensure the mission of the PRT is fulfilled through programs, strategic planning, and community outreach.
Organizational Operations : Establishes employment and administrative policies and procedures for all functions and day-to-day operations.
