Overview
An established and well-respected civil engineering firm in the Southwest is seeking a Director of Water Resources to lead their surface water practice. This leadership role combines business development, project delivery, and mentorship, making it a great fit for someone passionate about water resources, community impact, and building strong teams. You'll lead projects involving flood hazard analysis, hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, FEMA compliance, and stream stabilization, and collaborate across the organization to ensure technical excellence and client satisfaction.
What You'll Be Doing
- Lead a variety of surface water and water resource projects, including H&H modeling, FEMA studies, ADMS / P, and more
- Provide technical oversight and mentorship to engineers and project teams
- Review and approve engineering calculations, reports, and construction documents
- Oversee budgets, schedules, and scopes of work from kickoff to delivery
- Drive business development and support client relationship growth
- Participate in marketing efforts and actively pursue new opportunities
- Conduct QA / QC reviews of modeling, drainage, and design documents
- Represent the firm at community and industry events
What You Bring
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (required)Arizona Professional Engineer (PE) licenseCertified Floodplain Manager (CFM), or ability to obtain within 6 months10+ years of experience in water resource engineering, including leadership and business developmentStrong understanding of H&H modeling, FEMA regulations, drainage planning, sediment yield, and transportation-related stormwater systemsProficiency with FLO-2D and other modeling toolsExcellent communication, team leadership, and technical writing skillsProven ability to lead cross-functional teams and satisfy client goalsCompensation & Perks
