Job Title : Saw Operator / Machine Operator
Work Hours : Monday-Thursday, 6 : 30 AM to 5 : 00 PM
Friday, - 6 : 30 AM to 11 AM
Job Summary :
This worker operates large machinery that cuts, punches, bends, copes, and shears steel and aluminum plates for the production plant, warehouse, and press box assembly operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Must be able to read prints and details
- Must check each part against prints
- Ability to change out punches, dies, and shear blades based on the parts that are to be cut
- Must read tape measure precisely
- Responsible for the daily upkeep of the machine (oil track, grease bearings, oil the chains, etc.)
- Must work well under pressure in order to keep up with the demand of welders / fitters in the production shop
- Ability to calculate measurements in a manner to get the most cuts out of material to create the least waste
- Must be able to operate a forklift for moving material in and out of production area
- Must be able to coordinate with supervisors and various departments to meet the weekly material needs and demands of each job
- Required to order plates and flats of metal and aluminum for production
- Required to operate a 20-ton press for bending and punching
- Also required to operate a small press for uni-punching plates and angles
- Must use oxy / acetylene cutting torch and plasma cutter
