Oracle Database Administrator (U.S. Citizens Only)

As principal database administrator, you will be responsible for architecture build and maintenance of new and existing databases hosted in on-premises environments as well as cloud platforms. You will contribute to the transformation journey of our solutions, providing high-level expertise in the database field, proactive operational support, and acting as liaison for the team and PCI to ensure maximum satisfaction of our internal and external clients.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot issues impacting database environments and monitor databases and error logs
  • Analyze queries for efficiency and provide improvements
  • Identify and resolve database locks, missing statistics, data structure issues, and invalid objects
  • Deploy patches across database environments
  • Resolve data pump import / export issues
  • Document service requests, changes, incidents, and maintain diagrams, architectural documents, SOPs, and run books
  • Collaborate with DBAs, developers, vendors, and professional organizations; support after-hours emergencies and deployments as needed
  • Serve as SME for database implementations and projects; provide high-level service to internal and external customers
  • Automate operational processes in compliance with security requirements
  • Innovate by implementing and supporting scalable, highly available production infrastructure for different RDBMS (Oracle, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, MySQL)
  • Develop and implement database administration strategies and monitoring / support solutions; stay current with new technologies

Requirements and Experience

  • U.S. Citizens Only
  • Highly motivated, capable of independent work and contributing to team maturity
  • Creative problem-solving skills with minimal supervision required
  • Ownership of tasks and projects with 100% follow-through
  • 5+ years' experience with databases in a corporate environment
  • 5+ years' Oracle installation and support for Linux and Windows
  • 5+ years' experience with Oracle Data Pump
  • 5+ years' experience developing and supporting Linux scripting
  • 3+ years' experience in database security (user management, profiles, encryption, audits)
  • 5+ years performing database operations including migrations, patching, and migrations
  • 2+ years' experience with PostgreSQL, SQL Server, and / or MySQL
  • 2+ years' hands-on experience with cloud providers : AWS (required), Azure (nice to have)
  • Experience with cloud managed databases (RDS, Aurora) and EC2 / Compute instances
  • Experience supporting VLDBs (multi-terabyte)
  • Knowledge of high availability and disaster recovery methods for on-premise and cloud deployments
  • Experience with partitioning and backup / recovery strategies
  • Data Warehouse experience is a strong plus
  • Certifications such as Oracle OCA or higher; AWS / GCP / Azure certifications are a plus
  • Technologies

  • Oracle, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, MySQL; Oracle 12.1c and 19c databases
  • SQL Server 2019; PostgreSQL 10+ and Aurora
  • Cloud providers : AWS, Azure, OCI
  • Database tools : Enterprise Manager, CloudWatch, Enhanced Monitoring, Performance Insights, TOAD, Oracle SQL Developer, SQuirreL
  • OS tools : tar, zip, bzip2; Linux / Unix administration
  • Backup and recovery : Data Pump, RMAN
  • Languages : Shell, Bash, SQL, PL / SQL, T-SQL
  • Skills

  • Knowledge of ITIL and SDLC
  • Fast learner, self-driven, strong technical aptitude
