PRIMARY FUNCTION :
The full-time Program Coordinator (PC) works in partnership with youth (ages 12 18) toorganize, empower and mobilize youth and their communities to win real improvements foryoung people across Fresno County. The PC will train and support youth leaders to developand deepen political consciousness, assess and understand issues impacting their healthand well being, build relationships and partnerships with other youth and communitysupporters, and drive countywide and local community campaigns that create long- termsystems and / or policy change, and build power for future victories.
The PC is responsible for managing all of the logistics and functional tasks necessary formeeting the goals and objectives of the assigned campaigns, and for ensuring that theyoung people are experiencing high quality and culturally relevant leadership opportunities.The PC will work to support Fresno County campaigns, initiatives and staff, prepareappropriate materials, collaborate with community partners, and develop and lead trainingfor youth leaders and other campaign partners.
The PC is also responsible for coordinating and providing the direct educationalcurriculum delivery, youth prosocial and leadership activity development, youthleadership skill building and training, parent education delivery, community
education / awareness outreach, and social norms campaign development andimplementation in Fresno County. They will also serve as the liaison between schooland community leaders and the Youth Leadership Institute.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Recruitment, Outreach & Promotion. Sustain recruitment to ensure diverse youthmembership in the campaigns
Conduct outreach to recruit and attract a dynamic and diverse team of 10-15 youth leadersEnsure demographically diverse groups of youthProduce appealing and relevant outreach materialsAttend several different coalition meetings and set up a networkHigh-Quality Relationships To support their development
Utilize positive youth development and youth-adult partnership principles to guide the workRepresent yli to networks and community in professional wayDevelop relationships with school administrators, local leaders & decision makers.Attend school board, local government meetings and events when needed.Hold one on ones with youth.Program Leadership and Logistical Functions
Using yli curriculum, plan for and deliver developmentally appropriate andengaging workshops and training that build leadership and organizing skills,deepen issue and community knowledge, and strengthen connections amongmembers, as well as spark transformation that leads to impactful advocacy.Supervise and mentor youth leaders to develop and implement youth-ledcampaigns that offer multiple youth leadership development opportunitiesPlan and arrange meetings and events, including : preparing sites, agendas, andmaterialsConduct follow-up activities after meetings and events including : preparationand distribution of minutes and other records, carrying out tasks assigned at themeetingAlign program curriculum with the different and innovative aspects of media.Management and oversight of Campaign Development and Implementation
Manage coordination of media and press coverage for campaigns as necessaryEmploy social media tools as a method to organize youth baseDevelopcapacity of youth and adults to facilitate youth-led community level datagathering and analysis in support of campaign actionsManage coordination of key campaign events, like rallies, assemblies, pressconferences or legislative hearings as neededSecure support of campaigns by key stakeholders including schooladministrators, teachers, parents, community members, policy leaders andother youth groupsMaintain and regularly update a database of allies, constituents, and opponentsfor use during mobilization and regular communication with campaignsupportersOversee & development of internship programs.Attend City Council meetings & school district meetings as needed duringcampaignsLead Social Norms CampaignsReporting & Record Keeping

This is a full-time non-exempt position reporting to the Program Manager, with a rate of$25.44 / hour. This includes yli's generous benefits package :
