Description :
The Emergency Department Registered Nurse functions primarily in direct patient care.
They demonstrate competent clinical practice with a variety of patients.
The RN works as part of a team with a common goal of offering patient-centered, timely care in a safe and friendly environment.
The RN provides individualized compassionate care to emergency department patients, observation patients, and outpatients.
They initiate immediate care in life-threatening situations in the absence of a physician.
The RN provides nonjudgmental care for the acutely ill as well as non-acute patients.
This position requires the ability to perform multiple procedures, utilizing both complex and simple nursing skills.
The RN assists the physician and other team members to provide relationship-based patient-centered care.
They provide comfort, both physically and psychologically, to patients, their families, and visitors.
The RN utilizes the Relationship Based Care Model for this purpose.
Registered nurses shall provide patient-specific discharge and follow-up instructions to patients and families using appropriate language for their psychosocial intellect.
This role requires effective communication with emergency medical services on a daily basis.
The RN must relay appropriate orders from the physician for pre-hospital care in a friendly and respectful manner.
In this role, the RN works with multiple types of sophisticated equipment.
They handle a variety of patients in a friendly yet frequently stressful environment.
The RN maintains a friendly customer-oriented attitude at all times as part of a multidisciplinary team.
It is expected that all team members will collaborate to provide the best possible care to staff, patients, families, visitors, and community members.
At all times, the RN will treat every person encountered with non-judgmental kindness, compassion, respect, and relationship-based care.
The RN regularly assesses patients’ needs and provides skilled nursing services as prescribed by the physician’s authorized plan of care and accepted standards of evidence-based nursing practice.
Direct patient care provided by the RN includes medication administration, treatments, education, assisting with transfers, and responding to alarms.
The RN evaluates the effectiveness of treatment plans and makes suggestions or participates in updating / revising care plans in collaboration with other team members.
They utilize current information to improve patient care.
The RN is knowledgeable and compliant with all local, state, and federal regulations and guidelines.
They maintain knowledge of specific policies and procedures relating to care provided, guide patient teaching, and uphold professional nursing standards.
