Unit Clerk
The Unit Clerk performs receptionist and secretarial duties on the clinical unit. Serves as a communication liaison on the clinical unit.
The Unit Clerk will :
- Assure the medical record is adequately supplied and in proper order. Assure the workstation equipment is functioning appropriately, office supplies are adequate (not excessive), and maintain an updated working knowledge of new equipment and technology.
- Transcribe and / or enter written physician orders, complete necessary forms, requisitions, and communicate all orders approved / reviewed by RN. Place and maintain manual orders and print appropriate downtime forms as needed. Perform duties accurately, recognizing their importance and relationship to patient care.
- Maintain a record (inventory) of computers and other equipment for all devices assigned to the department / unit. Troubleshoot low-level computer / equipment issues. Perform routine maintenance on computers / equipment devices and utilize appropriate processes / systems to communicate computer / equipment problems / issues.
- Communicate with internal / external customers / colleagues in a courteous, positive, empathic and professional manner, and accept assignments willingly. Attend and participate in departmental / organizational meetings, in-services, and educational opportunities when required.
- Serve as a steward for the hospital's human and material resources. Meet productivity expectations of the unit / department as defined by the unit manager. Utilize and maintain appropriate supplies in the department. Support staffing needs for patient care in multiple units, as needed, while being flexible with schedule and hours.
Hours : Part time - 24 hrs per week.
Minimum Skills Qualifications :
Education - High School diploma or GEDBasic computer experience required.Experience in a clerical role preferred.Completes Mandatory Reporting : Child and Dependent Adult Abuse requirement within 6 months of hire and renews this requirement every 5 years.Position Highlights and Benefits :
