  • Opportunity Highlights :

    The Anesthesiologist will be responsible for providing the most effective delivery of anesthetic care throughout the hospital while meeting and exceeding compliance standards. The key responsibilities include :

  • Delivering a comprehensive range of anesthetic care to patients, including pre-operative assessment, intra-operative anesthetic administration, and post-anesthesia care.
  • Working in all functional areas of the OR, PACU, ICU, ward, and clinic settings as needed.
  • Conducting examinations, obtaining medical history, and using diagnostic tests to determine surgical risks.
  • Administering anesthesia or sedation during procedures using various methods.
  • Coordinating anesthetics with surgeons and providing life support and airway management as required.
  • Making decisions about post-surgery patient stabilization and recovery.

  • Compensation and Incentives :

  • Proposed Compensation Range : $390,000 - $400,000
  • Incentives Offered : Relocation Assistance, Sign-on Incentive
  • Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) : Receive up to $40,000 per year tax-free for up to 5 years to reduce education debt, totaling up to $200,000.

  • Call Coverage : Yes, 1 week a month.

  • VA Physician Qualifications :

    To be eligible to serve as a VA physician, candidates must meet the following qualifications :

  • United States Citizenship : Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
  • Licensure and Registration : Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
  • Education : A degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in allopathic or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs.
  • Residency Training : Physicians must have completed residency training, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
  • Board Certification : Must be board eligible or board certified in anesthesiology and critical care.
  • Proficiency in English : Physicians must be proficient in spoken and written English to be appointed as a VA physician.
