The Special Events Manager is responsible for designing and implementing the successful execution of the Foundation's special event fundraising activities in support of Southeast Health Medical Center and the Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine needs. Specifically, the SEM develops and manages event budgets, analyzes data for continuous improvement, creates event sponsorship plans and proposals, and participates in solicitation activities. The SEM is responsible for creating and overseeing event volunteer engagement plans, maintaining records of all expenses and for collaborating with development team and the special events committee to ensure Foundation event goals are met or exceeded. The SEM researches and identifies effective event fundraising ideas, determines appropriate vendors, venues, and target audiences, and ensures compliance to all local and state laws and safety regulations. Additional responsibilities include providing event-related donor and prospect relationship management, as well as identifying opportunities and actively engaging with the development team to achieve all of the organization's goals and objectives.

Qualifications :

Undergraduate degree preferred or minimum of six years not-for-profit fundraising experience; Experience with the planning and successful execution of special event fundraising, preferably in a medical or higher education setting; Ability to organize time effectively and manage a large number of tasks simultaneously; Ability to work flexible schedule, including weekends and evenings as required; Creative, self-starting, and results-oriented; and Valid driver's license and auto insurance required.

Language / Communication Skills :

Effective at in-person and written communications; Excellent interpersonal skills customer service, problem solving and conflict resolution are required; Ability to work effectively with various constituencies, including board committees, hospital and college leadership, volunteers, donors, vendors, and team members; and Skilled at public speaking for groups of various sizes.

Develop and execute strategies for successful special events within budget; Demonstrated ability to organize event details such as dcor, catering, entertainment, transportation, security, invitee list, special guests, equipment, promotional material, etc.; Computer proficiency with advanced level of expertise in Word and Excel and Raiser's Edge or comparable relationship management database system; Ability to generate traffic and interest in the organization through marketing, timing and execution of events; and Effectively manage time, volunteers and stressful situations.
