About Us

The Mental Health Alliance for Athletes (MHAA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting athletes, sports officials, and their families by improving access to mental health and traumatic brain injury (TBI) care. We focus on Education, Resources, and Referrals , including connecting individuals to providers, offering financial assistance, and promoting awareness around mental health in sports.

Role Overview

We are seeking a passionate Volunteer Grant Writer to help us secure funding that will strengthen and expand our programs. This role is ideal for someone who has experience in grant writing or is looking to gain more experience while making a direct impact in the athletic and mental health community.

Key Responsibilities

Research potential grant opportunities from foundations, corporations, and government sources.

Draft clear, compelling, and mission-aligned grant proposals.

Assist in preparing letters of inquiry, proposals, and supporting documentation.

Collaborate with MHAA leadership to understand program priorities and funding needs.

Maintain a calendar of grant deadlines and assist with follow-up reports as needed.

Qualifications

Strong writing and research skills (previous grant writing experience preferred but not required).

Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

Passion for mental health advocacy and / or athletics.

Detail-oriented and organized.
