Electrician II
Job Summary : The Electrician II performs a wide variety of journey level electrical maintenance, repair and installation work, including the layout of jobs sufficiently complex to require advance planning and the maintenance of necessary supplies and records. Work is performed with considerable independence in accordance with written or oral instructions and in accordance with the National Electrical Code and OSHA standards, but with the opportunity for conferences with supervisors on electrical arrangements, amounts and type of material, and on related problems. The incumbent may work as part of a crew or as lead worker on a specific project and may supervise a number of lower level maintenance and labor employees. The Electrician II is fully proficient in the skills and practices of the trade, with the full knowledge of the principles, tools and techniques. The Electrician II assists in planning repairs and alterations to electrical systems. The Electrician II has responsibility for determining the methods, techniques, materials and devices best suited to complete projects. Supervisor may check overall work to see that it meets trade standards. Does related work as required.

Qualifications / Requirements :
Experience : Either : (a) high school or possession of an equivalency diploma and four years electrical experience; or (b) four years full time experience under a journeyman electrician which provided training equivalent to that given in an apprenticeship program .
Education : High School Diploma
Licenses / Certifications : (1) Possession of a valid license to operate a motor vehicle in New York State. Depending on work assignment, may be required to have a CDL license.
Other : Depending on work assignment, must meet standards of OSHA regulation 1910.134 Respiratory Protection, and will be required to meet federal, state and local standards with respect to health and safety.
