The Agency for Persons with Disabilities (APD) works in partnership with local communities to support people with developmental disabilities in living, learning, and working in their communities. APD provides critical services and support for customers with developmental disabilities to reach their full potential. The Agency serves people with spina bifida, autism, Down syndrome, children ages 3-5 at high risk of developmental disabilities, cerebral palsy, Prader-Willi syndrome, Phelan-McDermid syndrome, and intellectual disabilities. There is no charge or co-payment for services provided through the Agency. The incumbent assigned to this position serves as the Maintenance supervisor, responsible for providing leadership and direction for the Maintenance area, consistent with applicable Florida Statutes, federal laws and regulations, and agency policies and procedures.

Reviews and evaluates administrative policies and procedures to determine their operational impact, identifying statewide issues in implementation, and recommending solutions. The position requires investigating and analyzing problems presented by administrators, providing guidance to staff, conducting on-site assessments, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to develop solutions, and assisting with implementation.

Plan and manage the preventative maintenance and repair program to include an electronic work order system and 24-hour on-call maintenance staffing.

Serve as an Executive Council Team member.

Compile and submit the Florida State Owned Lands and Records Information System (SOLARIS) report for Tacachale. Serve as the primary point of contact for the Department of Health.

Assign and review work requests and special projects as requested by the supervisor. Conduct on-site inspections to ensure the job is completed according to standards and in the most cost effective and efficient manner.

Compute estimates and actual cost of factors, such as materials, labor and outside contractors. Complete and maintain reports as necessary. Assist with the annual FCO (Fixed Capital Outlay) request to Tallahassee.

Conduct review of inventories and requisitions, materials and supplies as necessary; receive and check materials ordered upon receipt. Complete requisitions to purchase tools, equipment and materials for proper care of buildings and grounds.

Position requirements include :

A valid Florida Driver's License.

Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent.

Must have three (3) or more years' of experience in the supervision of multiple building trades.

Must have three (3) or more years' of experience supervising / managing a department of 10 or more.

Preferred experience includes :

Three (3) or more years' experience managing the physical plant of a facility where surveys / inspections are conducted by regulatory agencies.

Three (3) or more years' experience in a life safety field.

Three (3) or more years' experience in building maintenance.

Knowledge of :

The principles and techniques of skilled building trades or mechanical repair work.

Safety procedures that are required in maintenance and repair work.

Materials, methods, and the appropriate tools to construct objects, structures, and buildings.

Electronic equipment components and design requirements.

Ability to :

Perform a variety of skilled trades functions.

Read blueprints and schematic drawings.

Take accurate measurements.

Install, maintain, and repair electric motors, generators, and other mechanical equipment.

Supervise multiple building trade work centers.

Establish & maintain effective working relationships with others.

Model behaviors of Accountability, Communication, Empowerment, Flexibility, Integrity, Respect, and Teamwork.

Skills in :

Using tools and equipment in maintenance and repair work.

Using hand tools.

Performing repairs adhering to applicable code.

Estimating quantities and providing required purchasing documents for material.
