Chief Estimator / Head of Estimating
Location : Based in Napa, CA (on-site role with projects based across the Bay Area as needed)
Compensation : $135,000 – $165,000 / year

Projects range from custom residential estates to large-scale commercial hospitality installations — often involving full-scope packages that include pools, landscapes, hardscapes, and softscapes.

What You Will Be Doing
- Lead and mentor the estimating team — assigning bids, managing performance, and supporting professional development
- Analyze blueprints, specifications, and RFPs for complex landscape and pool projects
- Oversee quantity takeoffs and prepare detailed cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractors
- Present polished, competitive proposals aligned with both client needs and company profitability targets
- Standardize and continually improve estimating workflows, SOPs, and documentation
- Maintain and optimize estimating tools such as Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff, and LMN
- Serve as a key contact point for clients, vendors, and internal stakeholders throughout the bid process
- Collaborate with project managers and operations teams to ensure seamless project handoffs and execution
What You Bring
10+ years of experience in construction estimating, ideally within landscape, hardscape, or outdoor constructionStrong leadership experience in managing and developing estimating teamsDeep knowledge of construction processes, job costing, and materials — especially in landscape and pool environmentsHigh proficiency with estimating software such as Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff, and LMNAdvanced Excel skills and comfort working with cost breakdowns and bid modelsExceptional written and verbal communication skills, including client-facing presentation abilityStrategic mindset with strong attention to detail, organization, and time managementAbility to work full-time on-site and travel regionally for job walks and project meetings as neededWhy This Opportunity
