Job Title : Wear Specialist

Reports To : Corporate Product Support Sales Manager

Job Description

Position Summary : Create and maintain an environment that results in profitable aftermarket wear parts and service sales. Identify and implement a business plan to increase sales for UC / GET and paving in San Diego and Hawaii. Attend Caterpillar training and provide education and coaching to customer facing Hawthorne employees on aftermarket solutions.

Essential Functions :

  • Resident owner of the sales & service strategy for wear parts product.
  • Leverages analytics (ex. OLGA, BCS) to identify & define highest growth opportunities and set targeted customer segments / product customer segments and / or solutions for growth.
  • Defines and aligns the Sales to Users (STU), Revenue & POPS targets by parts product with the Product Support leadership team.
  • Develops deep understanding of competitive landscape by visiting customers in targeted markets.
  • Develops expertise in parts product (via training, research, NPI, customer visits, etc.) and deploys to sales team.
  • Develops, validates and deploys the commercial offerings based on Critical Customer Requirements.
  • Coordinates with Parts Manager for inventory recommendations.
  • Assesses Cap & Cap to identify any impediments to execution plan.
  • Develops targeted customer list with Key Account Managers and deploys to sales team.
  • Coordinates with Product Support Manager on Sales calls planning and coverage by territory and by channel (PSSR or ISR).
  • Identifies, deploys and implements marketing programs for targeted market segment(s) to the sales team.
  • Coordinates with marketing department to identify appropriate marketing channels to be leveraged (including digital and / or E-commerce platforms).
  • Develops the training plan, materials and schedule for the sales team.
  • Deploys training to ISRs, PSSRs, Service supervisors, Parts Counter, Marketing team and Machine Sales Reps.
  • Supports field testing data to Caterpillar for new product introductions (NPI), product issues and competitive studies.
  • Disseminates part number changes & NPI / value messaging throughout the dealership.
  • Adjusts campaigns or marketing programs, when necessary, to achieve targets.
  • Coordinates and leads the feedback loop from Product Support Managers, Service Managers, PSSRs, ISRs, Parts counter on program effectiveness.
  • Makes joint sales calls on existing and prospective customers with internal and external sales people.
  • Oversee Paver lifecycles utilizing Caterpillar's measurements and guidelines with concentration on wear items.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities :

  • Ability to communicate effectively with both internal and external customers.
  • Ability to analyze data and report findings.
  • Technical skills sufficient to be able to work through product issues.
  • Must have mechanical aptitude.
  • Must be able to travel outside San Diego County area several times a year.
  • Education, Experience, and Skills Required :

  • Proof of high school diploma or General Education Degree
  • Preferred minimum of 2-years' experience in a related job or field.
  • Must be able to communicate (speak, read, comprehend, write) in English.
