Superintendent - Commercial Construction
About the Role
A leading national general contractor and construction management firm is seeking an experienced Superintendent to oversee and direct field operations for large-scale commercial construction projects . This position plays a key role in ensuring safety, schedule adherence, quality, and budget compliance while leading subcontractors, field teams, and project partners. Candidates must be willing to travel as projects are located across the continental U.S.
Essential Responsibilities
Lead, direct, and coordinate subcontractor and trade labor activities, serving as the primary onsite point of contact for clients and trade partners.
Manage manpower, equipment, and material requirements to ensure timely delivery of project goals.
Oversee subcontractor and vendor performance, ensuring accuracy, quality, and compliance with project requirements.
Develop and maintain project schedules, including look-ahead planning and critical path tracking.
Identify issues impacting progress or compliance and communicate them to project leadership.
Review and support change order processes in coordination with project management.
Maintain strict control over costs and inventory of owner-supplied materials.
Coordinate closely with owners, architects, engineers, and client representatives, attending progress meetings and ensuring alignment with expectations.
Prepare and maintain daily and weekly reports, updating the team on work progress.
Ensure implementation of safety standards and compliance for all personnel onsite.
Qualifications & Ideal Candidate Profile
Minimum 10 years of construction experience as a Superintendent, ideally with a range of commercial building projects.
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or Architecture preferred (or equivalent experience).
Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously when required.
Strong understanding of critical path scheduling and project controls.
Proficiency with MS Office and Bluebeam; experience with software such as Autodesk and Procore is a plus.
OSHA certification required.
In-depth knowledge of earthwork, foundations, concrete, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, fire protection, compressed air systems, and structural construction methods.
Self-motivated leader committed to delivering projects with excellence and minimal punch list.
Strong written and verbal communication skills; detail-oriented with the ability to adapt in fast-paced environments.
Collaborative team player with excellent interpersonal skills.
Ability to occasionally lift / move up to 75 lbs.
Valid driver's license required.
Other Details
Candidates may be based anywhere within the continental U.S.
Must be willing to travel frequently for project assignments, which vary in duration and location.
