SUMMARY

Organize and manage fabrication files, create optimized nesting layouts for laser cutting operations, analyze laser and fabrication processes along with associated tooling, and design specialized equipment such as returnable racks and welding fixtures. Develop and implement programs for efficient material handling, part movement, and organization to support streamlined manufacturing workflows and ensure the production of high-quality fabricated components.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (includes the following, however, other duties may apply.)

  • Organize and maintain fabrication files, ensuring accurate documentation, version control, and accessibility for production teams.
  • Create nesting files for laser cutting operations, optimizing material utilization and minimizing waste through efficient layout planning.
  • Study and analyze laser cutting and fabrication processes, including tooling requirements, to identify improvements in efficiency, quality, and safety.
  • Design returnable racks for secure storage and transport of fabricated parts, incorporating ergonomic and durability considerations.
  • Develop welding fixtures to support precise assembly and joining of components, ensuring alignment and repeatability in production.
  • Create programs and procedures for material handling, part movement, and organization, utilizing automation where applicable to enhance workflow and reduce errors.
  • Collaborate with the Engineering Manager, Manufacturing Department, and suppliers to refine processes and recommend modifications for optimal fabrication outcomes.
  • Conduct research and data analysis on fabrication techniques to verify feasibility, effectiveness, and compliance with project objectives.
  • Provide technical assistance to manufacturing teams and suppliers to ensure adherence to specifications and resolution of process-related issues.
  • Estimate costs and resource needs for fabrication projects to support quote submissions to the Sales Department.
  • Develop specific goals and plans to prioritize and organize fabrication tasks for timely and accurate completion.
  • Assist the Quality Department in interpreting fabrication documentation and developing inspection processes for fabricated parts.
  • Assist the Manufacturing Department in the implementation of new tooling, fixtures, and process improvements.
  • Continually strive for advancements in the Engineering Department through enhanced knowledge of fabrication technologies, process optimization, and innovative solutions.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • To perform this job an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
  • Excellent mechanical and conceptual skills.
  • Strong, ambitious, motivated team player , with attention to detail and concern of importance. Ability to manage multiple projects with minimum direction.
  • Strong time management skills required.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Outlook, Excel, Mathematical and Engineering software.
  • EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering, Mechanical or Industrial preferred.
  • Two years' experience in fabrication processes, laser cutting, or manufacturing support, with proficiency in nesting software and CAD tools.
  • Experience in industrial fabrication, welding, and material handling systems.
  • LANGUAGE SKILLS

    Effectively communicate and understand job instructions both verbally and written in the English language. Ability to effectively interpret and translate instructions to other employees in a professional and respectful manner.

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

    Ability to perform basic and complex geometric mathematical computations. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical and / or complex situations. Has the ability to read and interpret basic dimensions on blueprints.

    REASONING ABILITY

    Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions using logic to weigh the strengths and weaknesses of alternate solutions.     PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    Able to lift and move up to 50 pounds, utilizing an overhead hoist for larger parts. While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Able to sit and work at a computer and walk for extended periods of time. Occasional travel by conventional means may be required.

    MENTAL WORK DEMANDS

    Regular and on-time attendance. Full time position, hours may exceed 40 hours per week. Occasional travel by conventional means including motor vehicle.

    The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those and employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The noise level in the work environment is low as expected in an office environment.
