Pipe Layer

Assists in the installation of various types of storm drain pipes. The pipe layer will work safely in the field and utilize knowledge of materials, methods, and tools to work efficiently.

Essential Functions :

  • Work with a crew to install a storm drainpipe
  • Operate hand and power tools.
  • Prepare the area in which the pipe will lay by directing trenching and grading
  • Maintains area around pump stations and pipelines
  • Foster and maintain a safe work environment
  • Install and assemble underground sewer, water, reuse, force main, and storm drainpipe.

Other :

  • Understand and comply with all Company Safety policies and procedures as well as OSHA Regulations.
  • Assists with loading and unloading trucks & deliveries.

  • Supervisory Requirements :

    This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

    Work Environment :

    This is field based role. Employee will be working on heavy civil and highway construction sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. The position regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.

    Physical Demands :

    The position lifts heavy objects, walks and stands for long periods of time and performs physical labor under adverse field conditions. The employee lifts, pushes, pulls or carries objects and uses abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue. The position requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multilimbed coordination. The employee must have excellent stamina.

    Position Type / Expected Hours of Work :

    This is a full-time position. This position will occasionally require long hours and weekend work. Average + / -50 hours per week.

    Travel :

    The role requires no travel.

    Required Education and Experience :

  • Must adhere to OSHA safety protocol, and work in a drug-free environment
  • Must be reliable / have reliable transportation
  • Preferred Education and Experience :

  • Construction industry experience preferred
  • Takes full ownership of assigned projects and can work independently
  • Must be able to install storm drain pipes in all sizes.
  • Must be able to work in all types of conditions
  • Additional Eligibility Requirements :

  • Must possess or be able to obtain a valid and appropriate state driver's license before employment.
