About The Position
Job Title : Cardiac Cath Lab Tech II

Shift : Full-time, weekdays
Hours per Shift : 6 : 30 am – 5 : 00 pm with one variable weekday off per week. On-call required : 1 weekend per month and 4 weeknights per month.
Experience : Minimum 1-2 years of experience in a cath / EP lab.
License : Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) or Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) or Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) with Cardiac Interventional (CI) or Vascular Interventional (VI).
Certifications : ACLS and BLS required.
Must-Have :
Candidates must have experience across all cath / EP procedures.
Candidates should be comfortable working both independently and within a multidisciplinary team.
Description :
Demonstrates understanding of cardiac, vascular, respiratory, and renal physiology and pathology.
Assists with orientation and training of Cath Lab staff.
Responsible for special projects and may include participation in relevant committees.
Adheres to the principles of medical ethics as applied to the role of the Cardiac Cath Lab Tech II.
Demonstrates thorough understanding of ECG and related medical terminology.
Recognizes ECG waveform morphology, wave patterns and their significance, including lethal arrhythmias.
Recognizes and interprets ECG changes occurring in heart chamber enlargement and myocardial infarctions and responds appropriately.
Lists and describes the most common cardiac pathologies, including symptoms and treatments.
Demonstrates an understanding of all cardiac medications (Generic and Trade names) and their pharmacokinetics related to cardiac and vascular functions.
Properly documents medications including indications for administration and dosages.
Recognizes and alerts physicians to abnormalities with clinical laboratory values.
Demonstrates knowledge of cardiopulmonary resuscitation and performs all components as a cardiac cath lab tech for a patient undergoing full cardiac arrest.
Monitors a diagnostic cardiac catheter procedure.
Intervenes appropriately during and after a lethal arrhythmia using ACLS standards if warranted.
Identifies coronary anatomy in cine angiographic projections.
Identifies cardiac pressure waveforms and informs the interventional cardiologist when applicable.
Calculates basic hemodynamic parameters using the recording computer.
Records catheterization events in the database computer.
Understands the necessary supplies required and can provide them as well as set up a table for diagnostic cardiac catheterization.
Describes the fundamental steps in a diagnostic heart catheterization and monitors a patient safely during the procedure.
Performs cardiac outputs, O2 saturations, and ACT (Activated Clotting Time) measurements.
Monitors a percutaneous intervention and differentiates between a PTCA, directional and mechanical rotation atherectomy.
Possesses full understanding of all extraction devices such as angiojet, rotoblator, and laser revascularization devices.
Explains the indication and potential complications of thrombolytic therapy for acute myocardial infarction.
Identifies the benefits of supplementing angiographic imaging with intravascular ultrasound and Doppler velocimetry technologies.
Describes the indications for electrophysiologic testing, permanent pacemaker implant, therapeutic ablation of dysrhythmias, and implantable cardioverter defibrillators.
Identifies the main components of the Cath Lab fluoroscopy system and utilizes all necessary components to ensure physician visibility during procedures.
Demonstrates core customer service responsibilities, standards, and behaviors.
Practices customer service skills as provided through ongoing training and in-services.
Possesses personal qualities such as being self-directed, flexible, committed to the team concept, and demonstrating teamwork and initiative.
Exhibits openness to new learning experiences and accepts and respects diversity without judgment.
