This is a non-exempt, semi-skilled position of a will-call nature. The person in this classification works in the operation and / or maintenance of a Water Treatment facility, working closely with a licensed Plant Operator as needed to assist the operator in performance of their regular duties.
Will-Call status – Work when needed by the Utilities Department. No set schedule.
Employees are hired as AT WILL employees that serve at the pleasure of the City and may be terminated at any time with or without cause.
DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
Graduation from a standard high school, or possession of a GED certificate from a recognized issuing agency, and supplemented by experience in the water and / or wastewater treatment field, or completion of an approved FDEP certification prerequisite course for water plant or wastewater plant licensure in the State of Florida. The person in this classification should preferably hold a 'Certified Operator' license as issued by the State of Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) in water and / or wastewater treatment or provide proof of notification from same of successfully passing the state exam for licensure as a 'Certified Operator'.
Any equivalent combination of education, experience or training which provides the required knowledge, abilities and skills may be considered.
