Job Title : General Interest Associate (1–3 Years)

Compensation : $130,000 – $147,500 annually

About the Role :

Direct Counsel is representing an Am Law 100 firm seeking a General Interest Associate to join its Atlanta, GA office . This is a full-time, onsite position offering the opportunity to work with a broad range of clients—from innovative startups to established national enterprises—on high-impact matters across various industries.

This role includes two tracks :

A General Practice track , ideal for junior attorneys looking to build a strong foundation across multiple practice areas.

An Energy Law track , best suited for candidates with exposure to or an interest in climate change legislation, energy regulation, and environmental policy.

Key Responsibilities :

Support clients across a wide range of matters, including general commercial, regulatory, or energy-related issues

Assist in drafting and reviewing contracts, legal memoranda, and filings

Conduct legal research and provide strategic counsel to clients

Collaborate with senior attorneys and cross-functional legal teams

Meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced setting

Required Qualifications :

J.D. from an accredited law school

Licensed and in good standing with the New York State Bar

1–3 years of relevant legal experience

Excellent academic credentials

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively and work collaboratively

For Energy track applicants : familiarity with climate change terms and regulatory frameworks is a plus

Compensation & Benefits :

Base salary range : $130,000 – $147,500
