Job Description :

Being a Fortune 100 company and the leading off-price retailer of apparel and home fashions in the U.S. and worldwide, the TJX Companies Inc. relies on our Loss Prevention teams to protect our Company assets to fuel our growing multi-billion-dollar businesses. Our Loss Prevention Department collaborates and provides support to all aspects of our business. While each chain maintains an individual brand, we have implemented a One TJX approach in our U.S. Divisions to positively impact and reduce shrink.

As a Loss Prevention Intern, you will learn, contribute, and grow in a fast-paced, dynamic organization. You will have the opportunity to take a broad approach to leading, allowing you to make substantial impact on our store operations and our bottom line. During this internship, you will learn about retail operations from the inside out and get a thorough understanding of why Loss Prevention is critical to every area of our business. Loss Prevention is about safety, leading teams to resolve theft and fraud, managing change, and using critical thinking to maximize our profits.

Through this internship, you'll have the opportunity to :

  • Gain an introduction to retail Loss Prevention
  • Learn how Loss Prevention maximizes innovative technology to protect Associates and assets
  • Participate in the management of critical projects
  • Learn from and collaborate with Loss Prevention leaders
  • Learn how retail operations and distribution centers operate
  • Deliver a final presentation to the executive leadership team members

Join our Loss Prevention teams and receive robust training and leadership development through classroom learning, on-the-job training, and ongoing mentorship from your leadership team. You will gain exposure and experience in the following areas of Field Loss Prevention :

District Field Loss Prevention :

  • Work within one of our districts which supports the operations of our retail stores.
  • Learn about our various field Loss Prevention positions, working alongside Loss Prevention Associates / Managers.
  • Participate in protecting the stores' merchandise and assets from internal and external theft through on-the-job experience.
  • Identify and resolve shrink (loss) exposures and opportunities through effective partnerships and analyzing data.
  • Attend Operations and Loss Prevention store market visits.
  • Experience how each area of field Loss Prevention leverages partnerships and networking to achieve goals.
  • Learn how field Loss Prevention Managers effectively coach, train, and develop members of their team.
  • Centralized Internal Investigations (CII) :

  • Learn how our CII team supports TJX by initiating, conducting, and resolving internal investigations using investigative techniques, tactics, and data analytics.
  • Participate in aspects of open internal investigations.
  • Experience how each area of field Loss Prevention leverages internal and external partnerships, including federal, state, and local law enforcement to achieve goals.
  • National Task Force (NTF) :

  • Learn how our NTF team utilizes advanced technology, business intelligence, and techniques / tactics to resolve complex external theft and fraud investigations impacting TJX brands.
  • Participate in aspects of open external theft cases.
  • Experience how the NTF works with store Loss Prevention, local law enforcement, and federal agencies to support their goals and objectives.

    Key Qualifications :

  • Rising Juniors and Seniors currently enrolled in a 4-year degree program
  • Business Management, Business Intelligence, Communications, Criminal Justice or related major (other majors may be considered)
  • Genuine interest in a long-term Loss Prevention career at TJX
  • Options to relocate and work a flexible work schedule depending on business needs
  • Additional qualifications include :

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, Office Suite)
  • Strong analytical thinking and sophisticated problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communicators who work well in teams
  • Confidence and flexibility to thrive in a fast-paced and sometimes ambiguous environment
  • An entrepreneurial drive, work ethic, and business acumen

  • With our Loss Prevention internship experience supporting multiple stores within a district, reliable transportation is required. A variable work schedule is part of the role and based on the needs of the business. This position has a starting pay range of $23.50 to $25.50 per hour. Actual starting pay is determined by a number of factors, including relevant skills, qualifications, and experience.
