Job Description :
The Capital Railroad Services team is looking for dynamic individuals that are highly self-motivated to join our timber preservation crew and enjoy a rewarding career, while traveling nationwide. The position involves continuous travel from job to job throughout the United States in company vehicles with rapid advancement opportunities.
Responsibilities include :
Extensive hand shoveling / digging around ground line of timber bridges using D-handle spade / shovel, sharpshooter / shovel, crowbar and pry bar
Apply wood preservative treatments and install plugs with hammer
Drill holes using 1 / 2" drill and generator
Learn to use climbing equipment (lineman gear)
Walk up and down steep slopes on rough ground
Inspect timber bridge and make notes about condition
Compensation :
The average starting wage for this role is between $22.65 and $24.20 per hour.
Job Requirements : Requirements
High School diploma or equivalent
Current Driver's License with a favorable driving record (Limited Class A CDL-no airbrakes, is preferred and commands a premium rate)
Base knowledge in heavy physical labor (farming, military, ranching, utility work, construction, fence building, hand digging, outdoor labor, heavy landscaping, roofing, etc)
No fear of heights with previous exposure to heights
Ability to successfully complete gas mask, lead exposure, respirator usage and Fall Protection training programs
Physical Demands / Work Environment
This position involves heavy lifting of up to 70 pounds; long hours of standing, walking, and climbing on remote jobsites.
Jobsites can be noisy. Ability to read and write are required as the position involves recording of data.
This position involves routine exposure to outside weather conditions and work is performed at heights of up to 300'.
Occasional work around fumes, airborne particles, and chemicals as well as sources of electricity
The noise level in the work environment is usually loud
