The role involves handling first-party property damage litigation on behalf of plaintiffs. Specifically, the attorney will represent clients in claims against insurance companies for wrongfully denied or underpaid property damage insurance claims . This work is focused on advocating for policyholders to recover what they are rightfully owed under their insurance policies.
Jurisdiction and Court Appearances :
There is no requirement for experience with any particular court. However, the current caseload includes matters in Baltimore County (Maryland) and Fairfax County (Virginia) . While each jurisdiction has its own procedures, the court systems across counties in both Maryland and Virginia are relatively similar. The attorney may also handle cases in the federal District Courts as needed.
Travel Expectations :
Travel requirements will vary based on case demands. While court appearances will be infrequent , the position may involve traveling approximately 2 to 3 times per month to courts , depending on the specific needs of each matter.
Onboarding and Remote Support :
Onboarding and ongoing support for this role will be managed remotely from the firm's Philadelphia office . Although travel to Philadelphia is not required, the firm can accommodate visits if the attorney prefers. In order to facilitate the exchange of physical documents, the attorney should have access to a scanner or fax machine to coordinate with the Philadelphia office as needed.
Interview Process :
The interview process will be conducted primarily remotely . If an in-person interview becomes necessary later in the process, the firm will provide reimbursement for travel expenses .
