Minimum Qualifications :
Education : Bachelors Degree in Accounting
Licenses / Certifications : Advanced degree or CPA desired
Experience / Knowledge / Skills :
10 years of healthcare accounting work experience.
Principal Accountabilities :
Supervises and manages accounting staff; hires, trains, evaluates, and disciplines staff as appropriate.
Oversees the daily activities of the department; develops and implements short and long term plans designed to achieve department objectives.
Prepares and oversees general ledger closings.
Analyzes and ensures accuracy of accounting reports produced by employees.
Prepares and reviews financial reports for all levels of management, summarizing and communicating pertinent information.
Assists in the annual audit of the organization.
Develops policies and procedures to ensure compliance with appropriate accounting standards.
Develops and maintains a system of internal controls within the accounting department.
Coordinates special projects as needed.
Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.
Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory / continuing education, skills competency, supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor, and resource to less experienced staff.
