Must-Have :

Candidates must pass the Basic Dysrhythmia exam with an 83% score before signing the contract.

They will be given three attempts to pass and remediation may be offered.

Experience with neuro and cardiac patients is preferred but not mandatory.

Candidates must be comfortable and confident in their skills.

Must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips independently.

Description :

This position involves working in a telemetry unit specializing in neuro and stroke patients.

The nurse to patient ratio is 1 : 4 during the day and 1 : 5 at night.

The unit has 15 beds that cater primarily to neuro tele patients.

Common diagnoses include large stroke populations and acute onset seizures.

The role requires the nurse to float between different monitor pods as necessary.

Self-scheduling is allowed but must be balanced by management.

Every nurse is expected to handle weekend shifts, totaling six within a six-week period.

Holiday requirements include working two major holidays and two minor holidays.

Nurses will not be required to take call or standby shifts.

RNs are supported by telemetry techs who read strips, while RNs also interpret the strips.

There are protocols for managing commonly used drips.

While charge nurses do not take an assignment, the unit staff includes nurse aides to assist.

Travelers are welcomed and encouraged to stay long-term due to a positive work environment.

All staff have access to managers and necessary resources.

The unit is accredited and has intervention capabilities for heart attacks and strokes.
