Responsibilities Work in a Med Surg / Progressive Care Unit (MS1) with both telemetry and stepdown beds in an acute care hospital setting Unit has 18 beds, including 6 PCU-capable beds, and all rooms are private Patient population includes telemetry, stepdown, and med surg patients, with common diagnoses of AMI, stroke / TIA, pneumonia, renal (dialysis), afib RVR, SIRS, and diabetes Nurse to patient ratio is 1 : 4 for telemetry and 1 : 3 for PCU / stepdown CNAs split the floor, each taking up to 9 patients, and support staff include tele techs, charge nurse, HUCs, and PCTs Use of Allscripts - Sunrise EMR and Phillips monitors for telemetry RNs are required to validate monitor tech interpretations and document at least every 4 hours 12-hour night shifts with every other weekend required; weekend coverage includes Friday & Saturday nights Floating may be required to all med surg units RNs care for telemetry and stepdown patients, including those on high flow O2 or home CPAP as needed Expected to administer and monitor medications such as Cardizem, amiodarone, bumex, Lasix, integrillin, octreotide, and protonix Orientation is 2-3 days with a preceptor Unit may house COVID patients when needed, with modified air handling as appropriate 24 / 7 in-house support from hospitalists, pharmacy, and respiratory therapists No in-house IV team; RNs manage IVs as needed Requirements Active AZ or compact RN license required At least 1 year recent experience in telemetry and acute care med surg; 2 years preferred Certifications required : ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), NIHSS Experience with Phillips telemetry monitors preferred Ability to work night shifts and every other weekend Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-619918.
