Program Director, Child Welfare Services

Start your career in public service with the Georgia Department of Human Services (DHS), Division of Family & Children Services (DFCS) is seeking candidates for the position of Program Director, Child Welfare Services. This position is located in Savannah, Chatham County, Georgia.
Pay Grade : N Manages the administration of policies and programs designed to protect children and families. Ensures mandated services with priority of child safety and service provision to children and families. Directs subordinate managers and staff.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities :
- Analyzes and assesses the effectiveness of existing programs to ensure identified outcome measures are achieved
- Assures agency compliance with policies, appropriate documentation, and reporting requirements.
- Builds and encourages a cooperative team-oriented environment within unit(s) and with other agencies and providers.
- Creates and maintains positive working relationships within the community and on the county DFCS Board.
- Develops and administers budgets.
- Facilitates communication within the unit(s) / agency on a specific case level as well as on a procedure / policy level.
- Interviews, hires, directs, trains, evaluates the performance of, and when necessary, disciplines and discharges social services employees.
- Leads and administers a comprehensive system of public assistance, employability and social services.
- Manages human resources and directs administrative activities for groups of social services employees.
- Plans, administers and maintains the operation of social services programs.
- Reviews new and current programs to determine their efficiency, effectiveness, and compliance with state, local and federal regulations.
Major Roles & Responsibilities :
Serves as a member of the agency management team.Establishes goals, objectives, policies and procedures consistent with the mission of the agency and division.Analyzes and assess the effectiveness of existing programs to ensure the identified outcome measures are achieved.Evaluates new and current programs to determine efficiency, effectiveness and compliance with federal, state and local regulations.Ensures efficient and timely delivery of services.Directs professional staff in developing their skills, delivering quality services and documenting efforts.Promotes awareness of programs within the community.Performs other professional responsibilities as assigned by County Director.Core Competencies :
Ability to work effectively at multiple levels of the organization and with multiple teams.Excellent oral, written, presentation and interpersonal communication skills.Minimum Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree in a related area from an accredited college or university AND two (2) years experience managing subordinate supervisors in a human service delivery program; ORBachelor's degree in a related area from an accredited college or university AND two (2) years of experience at the lower level Child Welfare Svcs Admr (SSP164) or position equivalent.Related qualifications / experience : Related qualifications include social work and behavioral science degrees, including but not limited to the following : social science, psychology, sociology, child development, family studies, criminal justice, education, public health and public administration. Related experience include the provision of services in a social services environment.
Preferred Qualifications : Preference will be given to candidates who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, demonstrate some or all of the following skills / experience : Two (2) years or more years experience managing subordinate supervisors in DFCS or comparable child welfare agency, managing CPS, Foster Care and / or Adoptions.
Special Requirements : Must have reliable transportation, proof of auto insurance, a valid state-issued driver's license, and an acceptable driving history record.
