Health Unit Coordinator

Banner Casa Grande Medical Center is seeking a new Health Unit Coordinator. This position is entry level and responsible for a variety of administrative support functions and customer service for an assigned patient care area which promote an organized, efficient delivery of care to patients. The position facilitates communication between physicians, nurses and patients, calls in consults and acts as a liaison with all other internal departments and external contacts. This position is for Full-Time Day Shift, 6am - 6 : 30pm this will include weekends and holidays on a rotating basis. You will have the opportunity to utilize our self-scheduling tool as well as enjoy a flat rate $1 / hour weekend shift differential as well as an 18% Night shift differential.

This position is responsible for a variety of administrative support functions and customer service for an assigned patient care area which promote an organized, efficient delivery of care to patients. The position facilitates communication between physicians, nurses and physicians, calls in Consults and acts as a liaison with all other internal departments and external contacts.

Core functions include performing receptionist / clerical duties to support overall operating efficiency and effective flow of communication and information throughout the department, processing patient admissions, maintaining a complete patient record, entering pending discharges, maintaining adequate levels of office, dietary, and medical supplies, monitoring and tracking the use and whereabouts of electronic equipment, and working under local supervision with responsibility for assigned unit only.

Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, 1 year of medical clerical experience preferably in a hospital or physician office setting, excellent organizational skills, effective human relations and communication skills, working knowledge of medical terminology and computer literacy, and knowledge of commonly used office software and keyboarding skills.

Preferred qualifications include successful completion of an approved unit secretary program and BLS certification. Additional related education and / or experience is also preferred.
