Job Description

Rail Scale, Inc. provides certification testing services on railroad scales throughout the US. We are seeking a driver / scale inspection / certification technician for our Houston, TX -based team.

A "team" consists of two technician / drivers, each operating their own equipment. Drivers / technicians may live anywhere in the Greater Houston, TX area, and may take their equipment "home" or near their home, provided parking is legal, safe, and secure (company pays for secured parking).

Average time away from home is four to five nights per week, including required weekend layovers with weekend layover pay. Most weekends, drivers are home.

Each technician / driver operates a 2017 Peterbilt 579 day-cab pulling a 36' step deck trailer with scale-testing equipment. No overnight stays in trucks; drivers stay in hotels and receive per diem for lodging and meals, paid monthly and tax-free.

This role involves testing railroad scales and maintaining equipment to high standards. It is not solely driving. Candidates must be comfortable using technology (smartphones and laptops) for communication, reporting, and scheduling. Strong technology skills and customer relations are essential.

Requirements include a CLEAN MVR CDL CLASS A , a minimum of 1 year of continuous OTR experience, HS diploma or equivalent, and mechanical aptitude.
