Sanitation Worker - SL Night Shift

Join our team as a Sanitation Worker on the SL Night Shift, working from 9 : 00 pm to 5 : 30 am. This position offers a unique opportunity to transition from a contract role to full-time employment after 31 working days. Initially, employees will work Monday through Sunday for the first week before transitioning to a 5-6 day work week schedule. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with a manufacturing background and over two years of sanitation experience.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed sanitation and upkeep of the facility, ensuring all processing equipment is properly cleaned and sanitized to established standards.
  • Maintain the facility and surrounding area in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices and recognized Food Safety Standards.
  • Remove all trash and product / soil from the plant; clean floors, walls, and ceilings.
  • Follow directions from the Sanitation Supervisor and Leads for various duties.
  • Adhere to all sanitation equipment tool and equipment guidelines.
  • Wear specified company-provided protective gear at all times.

Essential Skills

  • Experience in sanitation, production, manufacturing, or janitorial roles.
  • Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and food safety standards.
  • Ability to read and understand Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
  • Knowledge of chemical usage, proportions, and regulations.
  • Decision-making, problem-solving, and listening skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

    • Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Knowledge of sanitation equipment and tools.
  • Willingness to learn and adhere to safety procedures, especially when working with moving machinery.
  • Capacity to lift up to 50 lbs (garbage removal) and up to 70 lbs if using power hoses.
  • Willingness to accept change and work in a team-based environment.
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks such as standing, walking, stooping, bending, reaching, and crouching.
  • Flexibility with schedule, as shift times might change at the customer's request.

    Work Environment

    Work in a bakery environment with varying temperatures, from refrigerated rooms to warm areas due to ovens. Compliance with GMP standards is mandatory. Employees should be prepared to work in cold and wet conditions, approximately 34 degrees, and have reliable transportation to the work site.

    This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Leandro, California.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $18.75 - $18.75 / hr.
