Our client is a leading national non-profit organization looking to add a Senior Network Security Engineer (Palo Alto SME) to their team.
Salary / Hourly Rate :
$70 / hr - $80 / hr
Position Overview :
This Senior Network Security Engineer (Palo Alto SME) will work as part of a Security team in the Information Technology Department office. This position will not sponsor and will not consider OPT, CPT, or Corp submissions.
Responsibilities of the Senior Network Security Engineer (Palo Alto SME) :
- The Senior Network Security Engineer (Palo Alto SME) will be responsible for providing networking, security engineering, and troubleshooting support on network infrastructure and security appliances, including administration and management of Palo Alto firewalls and related technologies with a focus on firewall architecture, threat prevention, detection, and remediation, ensuring security, performance, and reliability.
- Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Palo Alto technologies, including expertise with Panorama, Advanced Wildfire, Prisma Cloud (SASE), and related advanced features.
- Design, install, manage, and support Palo Alto firewalls and related network appliances (e.g., PA-400 series NGFWs, Artic Wolf, Tenable), including policy configuration and threat prevention, employing ZTNA principles.
- Lead engineering and troubleshooting complex routing protocols, VPN solutions (GlobalProtect), and network segmentation / VLAN architectures.
- Collaborate with internal and partner network operations personnel to maintain high availability and performance across routers, switches, and WAPs.
Required Experience / Skills for the Senior Network Security Engineer (Palo Alto SME) :
8 - 10 years of experience managing on-prem, hybrid, and cloud network architectures, including demonstrated expertise in security network engineering.Proven hands-on expertise with Panorama, Advanced Wildfire, and Prisma Cloud.Expert knowledge of Palo Alto technologies and related networking appliances (routers, switches, WAPs).Deep experience with firewall rules, routing protocols, VPN, LAN / WAN designs, network segmentation, VLAN configuration, troubleshooting, and remediation.Familiarity with working directly with vendor support teams (e.g., Palo Alto TAC).Deep understanding of external and insider threat mitigation strategies and ZTNA design principles.Experience upgrading OS / firmware of Panorama, PA firewalls, and related networking appliances.Exceptional communication (verbal and written), organizational, and interpersonal skills.Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, demonstrate grace under pressure, meticulous attention to detail, and a methodical / analytical approach.Exceptional problem-solving abilities.Preferred Experience / Skills for the Senior Network Security Engineer (Palo Alto SME) :
Professional certifications : PCNSE, Cortex XSOAR, Prisma Cloud, CCNA, CCNP.Prior experience in a tech lead or network architect-level role.Familiarity with at least one type of Helpdesk ticketing software (ServiceNow, Zendesk).Education Requirements :
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent work experience in a related field is required.Benefits :
