1. Education : Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing. Current licensure in the State of Arkansas. Proficient oral and written communication skills.

2. Training and Experience : Minimum of two years clinical experience as an RN in a Medical / Surgical Unit and 2-5 years clinical experience as an RN in a Rehabilitation Unit. Demonstrates leadership abilities and has strong communication skills.

3. Job Knowledge : Ability to assess the patient’s medical and functional status, assess the risk for clinical and rehabilitation complications, and assess other aspects of the patient’s condition both medically and functionally.

4. Safety Sensitive : YES

In the interest of protecting the health and safety of all patients, associates, and guests, Unity Health has classified some positions as “safety sensitive.” A “safety sensitive” position is any job position in which impaired performance could result in harm to the health and / or safety of self or others. DESCRIPTION :

Must meet the minimal requirements of the RN job description. Facilitates the day to day operation of the referrals under the direction of the Clinical Director. Notifies the referral source in a timely manner that the referral was received. Acknowledges all the referrals with a commitment that states when the patient will be evaluated. Talks to the patient, the patient’s family, and the referral source face-to-face if possible. Educates the patient and family regarding IRF Services including :

  • What they can expect
  • How does it differ from other choices

explain the various types of “rehab” offered in the community

  • What are the rights and responsibilities of the patient / family
  • Right to participate in the rehab discharge decision

  • Participation in therapy
  • Rehabilitation nursing carryover of activities
  • What are the goals of inpatient rehab program
  • PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :

    Maintains good physical and emotional well being. Job responsibilities require a considerable amount of physical work. The individual will be required to assist with lifting and moving patients, pushing of carts, wheelchairs, and other equipment, and lifting or pushing of up to 50 pounds. The individual must be able to bend over to perform certain duties, e.g., check urinary output, lifting feet and legs onto leg rest of a wheelchair, etc. The individual must also be able to maneuver throughout the halls, stairways, and patient rooms in response to hospital emergencies. Interpretation of environmental input requires visual and auditory skills. A significant amount of writing and computer entry is required. Trips to various departments will be required. The position does have some heavy exposure to malodorous, infectious body fluids from patients and some minimal exposure to noxious smells from cleansing agents. Exposure to infectious wastes and body fluids may mandate the wearing of gloves, masks, gowns, and goggles.
