Job Description

Join Burrow Global for an exciting contract assignment with a premier client in the Sugar Land, TX area. We’re seeking an experienced Procurement professional who thrives in a fast-paced, process-driven environment and can own strategic sourcing across capital projects and plant operations. If you’re a relationship-driven negotiator with a passion for cost savings, quality, and risk management in the petrochemical sector, this is your next big move.

What You’ll Do

  • Elevate supplier onboarding : set up new vendors in GEP (a leading sourcing platform similar to Ariba) and ensure a seamless vendor kickoff
  • Drive supplier qualification : own onboarding documentation, certifications, and pre-qualification processes to onboard only the best partners.
  • Optimize supplier performance : monitor KPIs, service levels, and lead continuous improvement initiatives that drive value.
  • Maintain robust vendor profiles : keep approved vendor lists up-to-date with accurate data, performance history, and risk signals.
  • Lead sourcing campaigns : issue RFPs, coordinate pre-bid walkthroughs, manage RFIs, and tabulate bids with clear commercial and technical evaluation.
  • Shape contracting strategy : facilitate strategy sessions (lump sum, T&M, etc.) and collaborate with legal and procurement to finalize Master Service Agreements when needed.
  • Drive bid excellence : coordinate pre-bid activities, ensure thorough bid evaluation, and guide award decisions.
  • Manage post-award execution : generate POs, oversee invoicing, and ensure smooth financial administration during project execution.
  • Ensure compliance and risk controls : monitor insurance, certifications, safety records, and regulatory requirements for all vendors.
  • Archive with precision : maintain organized procurement documentation for easy audits and future reference.
  • Strategic category management : perform spend analyses, assess supplier bases, gather market intelligence, and conduct risk assessments.
  • Deliver real value : lead strategic sourcing initiatives to achieve cost savings, quality improvements, and risk mitigation.
  • Influence and stakeholder alignment : champion procurement policies, drive adherence to strategic sourcing, and partner with cross-functional teams.
  • Maintain data integrity : keep sourcing activity records, contracts, and supplier performance in procurement systems with accuracy.

What You’ll Bring

Education : Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, logistics, or a related field.

Experience : 7–10 years of procurement experience in petrochemical, refinery, or similar process industries.

Core Skills :

  • Superior negotiation, contract management, and supplier relationship management.
  • Strong analytical capability to interpret market data, cost drivers, and financial models.
  • Proficiency with ERP / procurement systems (GEP experience a plus) and advanced MS Excel.
  • Personal Traits : collaborative leader who can influence stakeholders, a proactive problem-solver, and a meticulous organizer who thrives on creating order from complexity.
  • Why This Is a Great Fit

  • Impact : Directly influence cost, quality, and risk outcomes on major capital projects.
  • Growth : A contract role with exposure to strategic sourcing, contracting strategy, and supplier performance optimization.
  • Environment : Dynamic petrochemical setting with a clear path to contribute meaningfully from day one.
  • Location : Sugar Land, TX area with potential for onsite collaboration and hands-on vendor engagement.
