Job Title : Radiology Service Engineer

Location : Northern New Jersey Medical Facilities

Job Description

This role supports all radiology equipment across our Northern New Jersey Medical facilities. The engineer should have working knowledge of general X-ray equipment, with specific training in maintenance and repair of portable X-ray units and C-arms. Recognized as a field modality expert, the engineer will spend at least 70% of their time repairing, inspecting, installing, troubleshooting, and calibrating diagnostic imaging equipment.

The engineer serves as a front-line responder for escalated service events and should understand medical PCs, peripherals, network hardware, and clinical network applications related to diagnostic imaging. They must have significant knowledge of physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology, especially in clinical applications and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities include following manufacturer procedures for preventive maintenance, scheduled inspections, electrical safety, and operation verification of medical equipment. The engineer will repair, install, and calibrate complex medical equipment, demonstrate proficiency with hand tools and test equipment, and communicate repair status and concerns to supervisors. They will coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, and outside technicians, and develop expertise through ongoing training. Additionally, they will assist with special projects as needed.

Key Skills and Support

  • Fully understands and communicates device use
  • Provides advanced support for non-high risk and high-risk equipment
  • Understands the operational environment (hospital, clinic, offsite)
  • Prepares for 24-hour on-call repair responsibilities
  • Maintains current knowledge of regulatory standards (MEMP, The Joint Commission, NFPA, etc.)
  • Ensures accuracy of equipment database and documentation
  • Resolves customer service issues effectively and maintains positive relationships
  • Possesses knowledge of diagnostic imaging equipment and project management

Qualifications

  • Experience : 1+ years as a Biomedical Technician supporting radiology equipment
  • Education : Bachelor's in Science or Technology (BMET / EET) or equivalent military / training with extensive experience
  • Certifications : Manufacturer's training on diagnostic imaging preferred; CRES certification preferred
