Description :
The Occupational Therapist will assess, plan, organize, develop, and implement occupational therapy programs for rehabilitation of patients.
The role involves directing patient participation in tasks to restore, reinforce, and enhance performance.
The therapist facilitates the learning of skills and functions essential for adaptation and productivity.
The primary goal is to diminish or correct pathology and promote health.
The therapist will evaluate, plan, develop, organize, and implement programs for patients of all ages.
This includes activities of daily living and participation in various sensorimotor, perceptual-motor, educational, recreational, and social activities.
The aim is to help patients regain physical or mental functioning to their highest possible level.
Assessment of physical, psychological, cognitive, and social needs and limitations is required.
Consultation with other members of the therapy team will ensure the selection of appropriate programs based on individual patient needs.
The therapist will teach skills and techniques required for participation in self-care activities.
Progress, attitudes, and behaviors will be evaluated in relation to rehabilitative potential.
Programs will be adapted according to the individual needs of patients.
The therapist will perform work site analysis and provide written reports with recommendations.
There will be involvement in ergonomic assessments and recommendations as needed.
Supplies and equipment should be requisitioned, and tools maintained.
The therapist will conduct training programs and participate in training others in occupational therapy techniques.
Adaptive devices such as splints and braces will be designed and fitted for patient use.
Documentation of patient progress will be maintained after each treatment session.
Therapy services will be provided for home health and other contracted facilities.
Other related duties may be assigned or requested as needed.
High levels of analytical ability are required for effective performance.
The therapist must demonstrate independent judgment while working under supervision.
Communication skills and the ability to maintain good relationships with patients and colleagues are imperative.
There is a high level of responsibility involved in supervising support staff as needed.
The welfare of patients and colleagues is significantly impacted by the therapist's performance.
Mental and visual effort is required along with flexibility in working conditions.
Physical and emotional well-being of others is a critical aspect of performance in this role.
The therapist must comply with safety management programs and standard precaution practices.
Background checks are required for this position.
