Plumber
Under the direction of Facility supervision, the Plumber is responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining pipes, fixtures and other plumbing used for water distribution wastewater disposal and gas piping in all city facilities. Maintains the flow and drainage of water, air, and other gases by assembling, installing and repair pipes, fittings, and plumbing fixtures. Maintains and provides the safe operation and condition of all plumbing systems.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required :
Knowledge of plumbing repairs, maintenance, and installation techniques. Knowledge of local and state plumbing codes and requirements.
Knowledge of regulations and operational procedures pertaining to the repair, maintenance and construction of buildings, equipment, and machines.
Skilled in soldering and brazing of copper tubing, threading steel pipe and the use of a Pro-Press and fittings.
Skilled in reading and interpreting blueprints, diagrams, schematics, and written reference materials Ability to develop and implement planned maintenance programs (PM).
Ability to operate tools and equipment according to safety procedures.
Ability to lead troubleshooting and repair water and gas distribution system components.
Ability to interpret plumbing and mechanical system building plans including backflow prevention devices.
Ability to lead other technicians in complex plumbing repair work.
Ability to perform mathematical calculations.
Ability to use hand and power tools.
Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Ability to use a personal computer, and Microsoft applications.
Ability to continually walk, stand, climb, stoop, bend, kneel, reach in all directions Ability to maintain balance working off the ground using ladders, scaffolds, and / or mechanical lifts.
Ability to sit and / or stand for extended periods Ability to work outside; exposed to heat and cold.
Ability to climb stairs.
Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions.
Ability to work independently with little direction.
Ability to be on-call 24 / 7 including responding to emergency calls as needed
Qualifying Education and Experience :
High school diploma or GED; with at least 3 years of experience in commercial plumbing and 5 years total experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified is required.
Possession of a Texas Journeyman Plumbing license and Industrial experience is a preferred.
Valid Backflow Certification, or the ability to obtain the certification within 12 months of employment; and possession of a valid Class C Texas operator's license is required.
